This session explores immune responses at mucosal and barrier surfaces, including the respiratory, gastrointestinal, skin, and reproductive systems. It covers epithelial immunity, microbial interactions, barrier dysfunction, inflammation, immune tolerance, microbiome changes, and their roles in allergy, autoimmunity, infection, and chronic disease.
Abstracts may include experimental, clinical, translational, and population-based studies involving microbiota, host–microbe interactions, barrier integrity, nutritional influences, environmental exposures, and therapeutic interventions. The session welcomes immunologists, microbiologists, gastroenterologists, dermatologists, pulmonologists, researchers, and other professionals studying barrier and microbiome-related immunity.
